Below are some helpful tips for keeping your doors or floors looking well.

Caring for your Doors

Ensure that your house is completely dried out before installing your new doors.
Leave newly installed doors open so that the conditions on both sides of the doors are relatively similar.
Store doors in a dry conditions only. Do not store doors in the house while it is being plastered.
Try using a lint-free cloth to stain doors (e.g an old pillowcase).
Remember to stain/paint both sides and all four edges in order to seal and protect the door from moisture.

Caring for your Wooden Floors

Water and wood are not compatible, so do not pour water on a timber floor as it may seep through between the boards and cause warping.
When removing stains, most manufacturers will recommend you use their own formulated maintenance products. Using other products may cause unintentional damage to the floor and you may lose your guarantee.
P.S. Supplies recommend that you clean a wooden floor weekly. Use a damp mop for floors with a non-waxed polyurethane finish.
Place felt pads under table and chair legs to save the floor from scatches.
To repair a section of flooring, first sand down the area in need of repair. Hoover the area and then use a damp cloth to remove all traces of dust. It is recommended that you use the same lacquer that was first applied to the floor. Another product may introduce new colours in the wood. Apply the first coat and allow to harden. Sand down with fine sandpaper and once again remove all dust. Apply further coats at intervals.
Semi-solid floors do not necessarily require acclimatisation as they are dry by nature. They are probably best suited for the home with underfloor heating as they can be glued down.
